Christopher Haase will retain Land-Motorsport and act as mentor to Salman Owega – The second of three Land-Audis has thus been confirmed
Land-Motorsport announces its second driver pairing for the 2022 ADAC GT Masters: Christopher Haase and Salman Owega will share the 1 champion car
The car has been given a completely new design and now appears again with the green shade typical of the country. A coniferous forest adorning the central green stripe catches the eye. The second colour shade is no longer white as before, but black.
Haase is thus entering his fourth full year with Land Motorsport and his third in a row. In 2016, Land’s first in the ADAC GT Masters, he drove two races for the team. In 2017, the 2007 inaugural season champion completed his first full year with Wolfgang and Christian Land’s team alongside Jeffrey Schmidt. Audi then sent him to Mücke for two years.
In 2020, Haase returned to Land and celebrated a victory at the Lausitzring with Max Hofer. It is his only one to date with Land-Motorsport. The 2021 season with Luca-Sandro “Luci” Trefz did not go according to plan and ended in 26th place overall.
“We are perfectly attuned to each other,” says team manager Christian Land. “Already in our first season with Audi in 2016, ‘Haasi? was on board. We hugely appreciate his ability to develop a car and drive a team forward. “
With Salman Owega, he now gets another junior at his side. The youngest scion of the Owega motorsport dynasty attracted attention in 2021 when, aged just 16, he won several races for the GTC Race in a Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo I and became champion in the “SemiPro” classification – just ahead of the highly touted Tim Heinemann.
He competed in two races of the ADAC GT Masters in 2021. At the Hockenheimring, not much could be achieved with Prosport’s Aston Martin Vantage GT3 at the one-off guest appearance. At the Nürburgring, Owega was supposed to drive a second Phoenix Audi, but had to abandon the weekend after a violent accident in free practice.
“The boy has real potential,” says Wolfgang Land. “On top of that, the Audi R8 LMS GT3 is not new to him. Together with his team-mate and the whole squad, he will move forward step by step this season and learn a lot in the process. I’m sure of that. “
Land Motorsport is also planning to run a third car. The drivers will be announced on Sunday at PS On Air – Der ADAC GT Masters Talk.
