Lakers extend winning streak after offensive spectacle

The Los Angeles Lakers have won the game with the third most points this season. German world champion Daniel Theis, on the other hand, lost with the Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Lakers with superstar LeBron James have prevailed in an offensive spectacle against the Indiana Pacers. The Lakers won 150:145 (72:68) on Sunday (local time). With a total of 295 points, both teams scored the third-highest number of points in a game this season. Only the Pacers’ 157-152 win over the Atlanta Hawks in mid-November last year and the Utah Jazz’s 154-148 victory over the Detroit Pistons in early January this year scored more points.

Four players break the 20-point mark

Four players broke the 20-point mark for the Lakers: Anthony Davis (36 points, 16 rebounds), LeBron James (26 points, ten assists), Spencer Dinwiddie (26 points) and Austin Reaves (25 points). The record champions scored 44 points in the third quarter and pulled away to a 19-point difference, with the Lakers remaining ninth in the Western Conference after their third win in a row.

The top game on Sunday (local time) went to the Milwaukee Bucks. The second-best team in the East beat the Oklahoma City Thunder, the previous leaders in the West, 118:93 (48:47).

Antetokounmpo stands out

The Bucks dominated the second half 70-46 and were led by superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo with 30 points and 19 rebounds. The Bucks were able to field their preferred starting line-up for the first time since the end of January, with returnee Khris Middleton impressing with a triple-double of eleven points, ten rebounds and ten assists.

While the Thunder’s defeat means they have to concede top spot to the Denver Nuggets but are still just ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Los Angeles Clippers, led by German world champion Daniel Theis, have lost some ground on the leading trio. The Clippers were beaten 107:121 (56:63) by the Philadelphia 76ers, with a 2:18 run at the start of the fourth quarter proving decisive. Theis only made one brief appearance. The Clippers thus suffered a setback in the race for a play-off spot
