Real Valladolid have been promoted directly back to La Liga. UD Almeria, on the other hand, return to the Spanish top flight after seven years. For SD Eibar there was a rude awakening.
A 2-2 draw at Leganes on the 42nd and final matchday of the Spanish second division was enough for Almeria to secure first place – and promotion to La Liga after a seven-year absence. In second place, Real Valladolid won 3-0 against Huesca to secure direct promotion.
The third promotion spot is still to be determined – by four teams. In the play-offs, SD Eibar (3rd) will first face FC Girona (6th), meanwhile UD Las Palmas (4th) will face CD Tenerife (5th). The two winners will fight it out in a final.
