If there’s one name you’ll remember from the 2018 World Cup, it is Kylian Mbappe. The French teenager took the competition by storm and is a growing football superstar. As talented as he is on the pitch, as generous he is off it.
Premiers de Cordée and Kylian Mbappe
Premiers de Cordée is an organization which offers free sports programs for disabled and hospitalized children. Mbappe has been associated with the charity since 2017. Sebastian Ruffin, Premiers de Cordée’s general manager had this to say about Mbappe’s relationship with the children from the hospital:
“He has a very good [relationship] with children, he always finds the right [words] to encourage them. I sometimes even feel that [he] takes more pleasure to play with the kids than the kids themselves.”
Ninon Barel, a spokesperson for the charity, thinks the children enjoy Kylian as much as he enjoys them.
“Children have stars in their eyes, when they see Kylian”
“Kylian has such ease with them that everything becomes normal and simple.”
Having been raised in a poor environment in the suburbs of Bondy, northeast of Paris, Mbappe realizes the need to give back to the community even at the tender age of 19. That is why he’s donating his World Cup earnings estimated at around €390.000 to the charity he supports, showing everyone it’s never too early to provide help.
Paris Saint-Germain acquired Kylian Mbappe from Monaco at the beginning of last season on an initial loan deal in order to circumvent Financial Fair Play rule. The deal, which is in the range of €180 million, is the second most expensive transfer in football history after Neymar’s move from Barcelona to PSG. Therefore, it’s not like Mbappe doesn’t have money to spend, especially with his football career still in the nascent stage. Nevertheless, it’s great to see a youngster not getting devoured by fame and staying true to himself.
Kylian Mbappe PSG future
After becoming the third teenager to play in a World Cup final (Pele and Giuseppe Bergomi) and the second teenager to ever score in a World Cup final (Pele is the other), rumours have swirled about a potential move to his dream club Real Madrid. However, Mbappe has put those rumours to rest.
“I will stay with PSG, continuing on my path with them,”
At least for now, PSG can be calm.
