Germany’s U-21 coach Stefan Kuntz looks set to take charge of Turkey’s senior national team in future. The Turkish federation wants to present the 58-year-old in the near future.
On Friday, the DFB gave the green light for a move by Kuntz, whose contract as U-21 coach still runs until 2023. The 58-year-old, who twice led Germany’s youth team to European Championship titles, appears to have a working paper ready to be signed.
“The contract has not yet been signed,” Hamit Altintop, a long-time Bundesliga professional and now national team manager in the Turkish federation, told the Deutsche Presse-Agentur, but he expects “that we will be able to present Mr Kuntz in the next few days”. Kuntz had already stressed on Friday that “news will come soon”.
So with Kuntz, Altintop is getting his desired candidate after he was able to prise him away from the DFB. “The talks, also with the DFB, were all impeccable and very, very fair. “
