After Hallescher FC’s narrow 2-1 defeat against Wehen Wiesbaden, coach Florian Schnorrenberg and Niklas Kreuzer took to the microphone in a crestfallen mood – with a particular focus on the lack of luck in the game.
“Shitty” is not an expression for the current emotional world of Halle’s Niklas Kreuzer. After the 2-1 defeat against SVWW, the right-back, who was plagued by cramps at the end of the game, looked visibly upset in an interview with “MagentaSport”. “Once again, we don’t reward ourselves for a great effort. We take the lead here and then they score two goals with one and a half chances – that’s unbelievable,” said the 28-year-old, describing the course of the game.
Resignation? The squad is far too stable in the head.
Thanks to the good performance, the team can “walk off the pitch with their heads held high”, but in the end they are once again without points. Nevertheless, there is no sign of resignation, because “the team is far too stable in the head for that. Today, I’m just fed up that we gave away a game like that.” In the eyes of the right-back, the penalty that decided the game in favour of SVWW was also “a cheek”.
Kreuzer faces Coach Schnorrenberg
“A cheekiness” would be on top of it to spark discussion about coach Florian Schnorrenberg. “If we lost 0:5 every time, that might be appropriate, but when I see the game today, the coach can least of all be blamed for it,” he put himself symbolically in front of his coach. Finally, the Munich native acknowledged that “we’re just unlucky at the moment. At the moment, balls like Ebi’s hit the crossbar (88th, header after a corner) or the opponent’s foot gets in the way at the crucial moment.
This opinion was shared by Schnorrenberg, who also found it “bitter that we could not reward ourselves today”. But there is always something going on in the HFC environment anyway, as “the demands are not getting any lower and we have four points less on our account than in the previous season.
The HFC could improve on their poor points tally next Saturday when they travel to Meppen for an away game – but the task will not be any easier. The team from Emsland is in the thick of the promotion race.
