König: “We must not take a step less”

FSV Zwickau have been unbeaten for seven league games. So last-place TSV Havelse should not be a high hurdle in the catch-up game. Veteran Ronny König warns

The last defeat dates back to 11 September, when SC Verl took the points from Zwickau 3:1 in late summer. Since then, the Swans have picked up three wins and four draws. A remarkable interim spurt.

Nevertheless, coach Joe Enochs’ team is currently only one point away from the relegation zone. It is therefore hardly surprising that the motto for Saturday’s home game against the supposed underdogs Havelse is: don’t let up!

Already tenth in the all-time scoring list

“We must not take one step less now. We will have to push ourselves to the limit in every game,” said König, the oldest player in the FSV squad at 38 and tenth in the league’s all-time scoring list with 60 goals.

In an interview with dfb.de, the centre-forward also warns against the bottom team: “Although the relegation places are seven points away, the team is not giving up. TSV Havelse has often shown that the team can keep up in the 3rd division.” Like most recently in the 2-1 win over Halle.

Forcing the defensively susceptible Havelse (33 goals conceded) to make mistakes and “like to stay without conceding a goal once in a while” – according to König, these would be the necessary ingredients for the recipe for success. He and his teammates would undoubtedly have the necessary self-confidence for this after their good run.

No kick in Kamenz

As FSV announced via Twitter on Friday, the Saxon Football Association has cancelled the round of 16 match in the state cup against Einheit Kamenz scheduled for Wednesday. The reason given was the impact of Saxony’s new Corona Protection Ordinance.
