Konami removes Mason Greenwood from PES and eFootball

After his arrest, Mason Greenwood was promptly removed from FIFA 22. Konami now follows suit and announces to remove the footballer from their games as well.

After serious allegations, including assault, Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood was arrested. After this case made high waves, consequences were also drawn in digital football. The England international has been removed from FIFA 22.

Now the competition from Japan is following suit. Publisher and developer Konami have confirmed to international media that Mason Greenwood will be removed from their football games PES 2021 and eFootball.

“Konami condemns violence of any kind “

In a statement, Konami confirmed the decision: “In light of the serious allegations against Mason Greenwood, the player will be banned from our football titles until further notice.”

“Konami condemns violence of any kind,” the game maker emphasised in the message. They further clarified that players of PES 2021 on mobile devices “cannot re-purchase the player, existing owners are not affected.”

The games company did not comment specifically on eFootball 2022, which is currently under development. However, Greenwood has also been removed from Konami’s latest football simulation.
