Konami launches eFootball Championship 2022 in June

Konami announces the launch of the eFootball Championship for June 2022. A new game mode has been developed for the World Championship.

In a press release Konami announced that the eFootball Championship 2022 will start in June. This event is the official eSports competition of the free-to-play football simulation from Japan.

Konami has also renamed the eSports competition following the name change from PES to eFootball. Two different competitions will be offered, separating competitive eSports from gaming.

In the “eFootball Championship Pro 2022”, eSportsmen with professional contracts play for the title, while the “eFootball Championship Open 2022” lets amateurs prove their skills on the console. After a disastrous start, this is finally good news – especially for the disappointed professional players. The latter waited almost a year for competitive competitions – the eFootball.Pro league was on ice.

Dream Team as eSport mode

The “Dream Team Mode” is used for the competition. This forms the crown jewel in the long-awaited season update and version 1.0 of eFootball. In this mode, players compete against each other or against an AI in the usual individual duel. One’s own footballers can be improved through further developments and are customisable according to the preferred style of play.

Qualification for the biggest eSport event in eFootball starts in June. Anyone who takes part in the corresponding ingame challenges is eligible to play. Konami also announced that the games will be broadcast via live stream.
