The complicated search for a coach at FC Bayern seems to be coming to an end. Vincent Kompany is said to be Munich’s new top candidate

Either the selected candidates did not want to take over the position, which has been subject to a high turnover in recent years, or there was no consensus among the record champions’ management.
However, the long and complicated search for a successor to Tuchel now appears to be coming to an end.
According to several media reports, including The Guardian, Vincent Kompany is at the top of Munich’s list. A surprising name, as Kompany does not have the best sporting record. Although the 38-year-old succeeded in winning promotion to the Premier League with Burnley FC, which he took over in 2022 after two years at Anderlecht, he was immediately relegated. With 24 points from 38 games, the “Clarets” only finished in penultimate place in the past season

Because the former Hamburger SV and Manchester City professional (four league titles) managed to turn a team that had been playing blandly for years into a team that suddenly knew how to impress with the ball, Kompany quickly made a name for himself as a coach. This was apparently also noticed in Munich.
According to reports, talks between Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl and Burnley owner Alan Pace are already at an advanced stage. However, FC Bayern would have to transfer a transfer fee to the north of England, as Kompany had signed a long-term contract until 2028 following his promotion. Negotiations over the amount are said to have already taken place this Wednesday. Munich are hoping to wrap up the deal by the end of this week.
