Kane is Confident Ahead of England’s First World Cup 2018 Match

This England team looks poles apart from the previous ones that were hyped up to win big tournaments and yet struggled to beat smaller teams. Captain Harry Kane is a prime example of a player who feels confident in his own ability but does not show signs of buckling under the pressure of the nation.

Kane’s outstanding goal scoring record

Over the last few seasons he has been deadly in front of goal, leading him to become England’s star player. His scoring record is phenomenal, with 108 goals in 150 appearances for Tottenham. His tally for England is not bad either – 13 in 24. This World Cup is geared up for Harry Kane to take his game to the next level. He has just signed a new contract with his beloved Tottenham, so he will not be playing for a transfer, he will simply be playing for the pride of wearing the Three Lions upon his chest.

Harry hoping for a hat-trick

England take on Tunisia later today and Kane sounds like he cannot wait to get started. Having watched the way that Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed the headlines this weekend with a superb hat-trick against Spain, Kane is eager to follow suit. He said “Hopefully I will score a hat-trick” in response to Ronaldo’s early achievements. Kane is yet to win any silverware in his career so far and is determined to change that. The individual accolades like back-to-back Premier League Golden Boots are nice recognition of what he can do in front of goal but they are not as fulfilling as winning a team trophy.

The Golden Generation always came up short

They go into the tournament without huge expectations like previous England teams had to carry with them. The ‘Golden Generation’ of Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes, Owen and Rooney failed to amount to the expectations of fans. Rio Ferdinand even came out to say that the pressure on that set of players hindered them in the big tournaments. So maybe this could be the tournament where England are left to showcase their talent without the huge pressure and can try to enjoy their football instead. Harry Kane could well be the player that grabs the important goals to see them through.
