Kainz extends contract with 1. FC Köln

1. FC Köln continues to rely on Florian Kainz. The midfielder extended his contract, which expires in summer, until 2024.

Florian Kainz extended his contract with 1. FC Köln, which expires in the summer, until 2024 on Friday afternoon. In the current season, the Austrian has made 25 appearances, in which he has scored three goals and provided five assists. This means that, together with captain Jonas Hector, he has the most assists in the Cathedral City team.

The midfielder moved from Bremen to Cologne in January 2019 and was immediately promoted to the Bundesliga with the Geißböcken. Accordingly, Cologne officials are delighted with the contract extension of the “top performer”. According to the sporting director, Jörg Jakobs, Kainz is “an important part of our team, both personally and athletically”.

In addition to the sporting perspective, the social environment played a major role for the 29-year-old: “We feel very comfortable in the city, have made many friends here and our son was born here. I’m looking forward to playing many more successful games here in the next two years,” said Kainz.
