Kahn elected ECA Vice-Chairman

Oliver Kahn has been elected to the board of the European Club Association ECA. There he will serve as Vice-Chairman.

The ECA announced the election of the former national goalkeeper on Thursday after its board meeting in Paris. Kahn succeeds Dr Michael Gerlinger, the director of legal affairs at FC Bayern. Gerlinger had resigned from his post at the end of September after four years.

Kahn thus becomes the first deputy of ECA Chairman Nasser El-Khelaifi, the President of Paris St. Germain. For a long time, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had chaired the committee.

“Being elected to this leading body is on the one hand a great honour – on the other hand it also means a great responsibility,” Kahn is quoted as saying on the FC Bayern website. “The voice of the clubs represented by this association must carry weight, be heard and taken into account when setting the course in world football. I would like to contribute with my experience to address all challenges – in the sense of football and in the sense of FC Bayern. “
