Paris – Jule Niemeier has made it into the main draw at the French Open with aplomb
The young German tennis hopeful outclassed Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima 6-0, 6-1 in the final qualifying round in Paris to reach the main draw for the first time at the clay-court classic at Roland Garros. The 22-year-old from Dortmund needed only 51 minutes for her success.
Angelique Kerber, Andrea Petkovic and Tatjana Maria had already qualified automatically for the French Open. Laura Siegemund, on the other hand, missed out on qualifying for the main draw. The Swabian lost to Cristina Bucsa from Spain 6:4, 3:6, 1:6.
On Friday, Nastasja Schunk in the women’s singles, Cedrik-Marcel Stebe and Daniel Masur in the men’s singles will fight for a place in the main draw.
