Jota-Cadillac presents design for 2025, Leclerc engineer to become new technical director

Jota has presented the design of the Cadillac V-Series.R for the 2025 WEC season – Charles Leclerc’s long-standing Ferrari race engineer will become technical director

The presentation took place at ‘Cadillac City Paris’ in the heart of the French capital. “Today’s unveiling of the livery of the Cadillac Hertz Team Jota V-Series.R marks the culmination of intensive work and the extraordinary commitment of everyone involved in this new motorsport family,” says Jota Director David Clark.

“It is a very proud moment for our entire team to unveil this impressive race car. This moment not only marks our appearance for the upcoming season, but also the next milestone of two successful and record-breaking brands in the FIA World Endurance Championship.”

Former Leclerc engineer becomes technical director

Cadillac, meanwhile, has strengthened its team: Xavier Marcos, who spent six years as a race engineer alongside Charles Leclerc at Ferrari and was replaced by Bryan Bozzi in the middle of last year, will become Technical Director at Cadillac.

Before his time at Ferrari, the Spaniard worked for HRT and Williams before moving to NASCAR as a chief engineer. In the 2018 season, he was initially employed as a factory engineer at Ferrari before becoming Leclerc’s personal engineer for the 2019 season.

The position of technical director is one of two new positions at Cadillac Racing, created to support the new LMDh program director Keely Bosn, who started work on January 1.

The second new role is that of propulsion manager, focusing on the 5.5-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine and the hybrid system. This position has been taken on by Sean O’Shea, who joined Cadillac’s parent company General Motors back in 2015 and previously worked for Bosch Motorsport, who supply the generator for the LMDh hybrid system.

Bosn has taken over the management of the V-Series.R program from Laura Wontrop Klauser, who, as GM’s head of motorsport since 2021, was responsible for both the LMDh program and Corvette Racing’s GT3 program.

Jota is completing the first Cadillac test drives

Jota has already completed two test drives with the V-Series.R: a shakedown with the first chassis was carried out on the Anneau du Rhin race track in Alsace at the end of November, before continuing with two extensive test days in Paul Ricard in December. All six WEC drivers were present there.

“We are learning a lot, but there is still more to learn,” says Sam Hignett, founder of the Jota team. ‘We drove in Paul Ricard until late into the night and covered a few thousand kilometers.’ Jota will test again in Abu Dhabi at the end of January before the WEC season starts in Qatar (February 28).
