Jose Mourinho Takes a Tumble as He Walks Into Wembley

England may have slipped up on Saturday evening against Spain but Jose Mourinho’s own slip up was probably the more interesting aspect of the match. When things are not going your way, it feels like the world is against you and right now that is where Jose Mourinho is at. As he walked into the Wembley stadium to watch the England v Spain match, he went climbing over a rope and then tripped, embarrassingly sprawling across the floor and getting scooped up from the pavement by a steward.

A poor start to the season for Mourinho

Mourinho has been all over the news since the start of the new season, with losses to Brighton and Spurs leading to some fans calling for him to be replaced. The last thing he needed right now was to be back in the news for an embarrassing tumble as he came close to face-planting the pavement. The steward that helped him up had the words ‘Here to help’ stitched across his back and ironically, if ever Mourinho has needed some help in his managerial career, now is probably the most appropriate time.

Similar to Arsene Wenger’s airport fall

The world of social media can be cruel when you do something embarrassing and we’re pretty sure that Mourinho won’t be allowed to forget this trip for some time. Arsene Wenger had a similar incident at the airport where he was caught on video in an embarrassing fall and rival fans used the video to mercilessly make fun of the manager, particularly as results were not going his way.

Mourinho has fallen out of favor at Old Trafford

Zinedine Zidane has been heavily linked with replacing Mourinho and the former Real Madrid manager recently confirmed that he will be returning to management at some point in the future. Club legend Eric Cantona has even talked about either himself of Zidane being brought in to help United to start playing attacking football again. There may still be time for Mourinho to turn things around but right now you couldn’t blame him if he decided to jet off to a quiet island away from the public eye for a while.
