Jenson Button stays with Jota after all: These are Cadillac’s WEC drivers for 2025

Cadillac announces its drivers for the 2025 WEC season: Jenson Button is sticking around for another season after all – Ganassi drivers from 2024 are also coming

No end to Jenson Button’s career after all: The 2009 Formula 1 world champion had already expressed doubts about his future after an unsatisfactory season in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). Now he will stay in the series as part of the new Cadillac factory team Jota.

Button will drive a Cadillac V-Series.R together with Will Stevens and Norman Nato. He thus practically replaces Callum Ilott, who has switched to the IndyCars. Stevens, Nato and Ilott had won the title in the FIA World Championship for private hypercar teams in 2024 in the Jota-Porsche 38 Porsche with Oliver Rasmussen and Phil Hanson. However, the trio had a difficult season and rarely had the speed of their teammates. It was only at Le Mans that things started to improve slightly, and seventh place in the finale in Bahrain was enough to displace the private AF-Corse Ferrari from second place in the privateer standings.

Phil Hanson will be getting into that yellow Ferrari for the 2025 season. It is not yet clear what the future holds for Oliver Rasmussen.

In the sister car, the former Ganassi drivers will meet again. Earl Bamber and Alex Lynn will join Sebastien Bourdais, who will contest a full season outside the USA for the first time since his Formula 1 days. Bamber and Lynn contested the 2024 season as a pair, which led to discussions during the season about driver pairings with two drivers.

In 2025, team owner Sam Hignett wants the two Cadillac V-Series.R to have three regular drivers each. Spa will be an exception, as the weekend clashes with the IMSA race at Laguna Seca Raceway. It is expected that Bamber will be in the US then, as he is also a regular driver in Action Express Racing’s Cadillac.

“I’m very happy to continue my journey with Team Jota, which is entering into a new partnership with such an iconic brand as Cadillac,” says Button. “It’s a privilege to be driving with Jota this season. I have long admired this team, which has enjoyed great success in endurance racing.”

“Their achievements and hard work have now led to this exciting next chapter, partnering with Cadillac – a brand that has already impressed with success in both the WEC and IMSA.

“Our driver line-up is formidable, combining Cadillac’s experience with Jota’s, and we have all the ingredients for a successful season.”

Jota director David Clark adds: “Cadillac’s motorsport success story speaks for itself and with this six-driver line-up, we will be in a strong position to challenge for race wins.”

Jota Sport will test the Cadillac V-Series.R for the first time at the Alsatian Rheinring (Anneau du Rhin) next week.
