Jancker club Leoben denied admission to 2nd division

After Dornbirn, DSV Leoben has also been denied admission to the second-highest division. This was announced by the Austrian Bundesliga in an official press release

Although DSV Leoben even has the chance to finish the season in third place in the Austrian 2nd division, the coming season will take place without the Styrians. As the Bundesliga announced on Friday, Leoben will no longer be part of the top two divisions in the coming season. This is because, as the Bundesliga announced, the complaint lodged by Donawitz for admission for the coming season was not granted. This was decided by the Permanent Court of Neutral Arbitration.

“The Court of Arbitration came to the conclusion that the legally effective requirement of Senate 5 in the area of financial criteria as a prerequisite for the granting of admission was not fulfilled at the required time. The submission of new documents after this deadline was not permitted within the framework of the prohibition of innovation and therefore these were not to be taken into account,” according to the official Bundesliga statement.

FC Dornbirn was already denied admission to the second-highest division on Thursday, and now Leoben will also be denied admission. It is the next setback for the struggling club from Styria. It was only at the beginning of May that a new line-up was announced, with chairman Mario Bichler stepping down and Thomas Janeschitz taking over as sporting director. A month earlier, Carsten Jancker was installed as coach. At the end of last year, the DSV and chairman Bichler came under judicial scrutiny for alleged fraud.
