EA SPORTS has published its traditional simulation forecast for the 2024 European Championship. FC 24 predicts an English European Championship triumph – and great German sadness over Harry Kane
When it comes to men’s soccer, EA SPORTS has been extremely accurate with its simulated predictions in recent years: the developer correctly predicted the 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022 world champions in the respective matches. However, things looked very different for the women recently. For the 2023 World Cup, FIFA 23 predicted that the USA would win the title, but in reality they had to bow out in the round of 16. Simulated final opponent at the time: Germany.
Which brings us to the big parallel with the latest EA SPORTS prediction for the 2024 European Championship. Because according to the latest simulation from FC 24, the DFB team of national coach Julian Nagelsmann will also advance to the final at the home tournament. However, the big disappointment is set to come on July 14: According to the soccer video game, Germany loses to England in the final – “It’s coming home” is therefore the headline EA SPORTS is currently running on social media.
According to EA SPORTS: Kane beats Germany late on
The developer does not reveal any further details about the simulated course of the tournament in its brief statement on the prediction. However, it does say a few words about the final match: “After an exciting and thrilling battle, Harry Kane will score a late winner to secure a 2-1 victory for England.” This would end the Three Lions’ 58-year drought in major international competitions – against arch-rivals Germany of all countries.
Although reaching the final of the European Championship at home would be a sporting success, fans of the national team could probably do without the predicted finish. And in FC 24, they even have it in their own hands: EA SPORTS has presented a new EURO mode designed to make the major event even more immersive.
