Following their elimination in the play-off semi-finals of the European Championship in Germany, Israel’s friendly match against Bosnia-Herzegovina in Sarajevo will not take place.
The Israeli national soccer team’s friendly match against Bosnia-Herzegovina has been canceled. The match had been scheduled for Tuesday in Sarajevo. On Thursday, both teams were eliminated in the play-off semi-finals for this summer’s European Championship in Germany. Bosnia lost 2-1 to Ukraine, while Israel were beaten 4-1 by Iceland in Budapest.
The reason for the cancellation is the security situation. Due to the war in Gaza, the Israeli match was classified as a high-risk game. “Due to the tense situation, UEFA contacted me immediately after the match and asked if we could cancel the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is not important for either national team,” said Israel’s head of the association Shino Zoertz on Friday.
