The start to the new year is not really going well for Dan-Axel Zagadou: The defender will be missing for the opener in Frankfurt.
On 6 November 2021, Zagadou returned to the pitch after a serious knee injury after almost nine months, celebrating his comeback in the 1-2 defeat in Leipzig. Now the BVB centre-back has to be patient again. Zagadou tested positive for the coronavirus, the club announced on Sunday.
The 22-year-old is thus ruled out for the 2022 opener at Eintracht Frankfurt next Saturday evening. Zagadou is in isolation at his holiday resort in Dubai, BVB let it be known.
Zagadou has made five league appearances for Borussia Dortmund this season, but he will have to wait for his sixth.
