Is Zhaire Smith the Real Deal?

The NBA draft gave us a few unexpected twists and turns as the picks unfolded but one thing that everyone knew was that Zhaire Smith was going to get selected fairly early on. The former Texas Tech player had caught the eye of a number of teams leading up to the draft with some outstanding performances for the Red Raiders.

Zhaire Smith was not the only Texas Tech student to make the grade either, with Keenan Evans signing with the Detroit Pistons, Zach Smith signing with the Atlanta Hawks and Tommy Hamilton IV going to the San Antonio Spurs. Zhaire Smith was a first round pick that was selected by the Phoenix Suns and traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Zhaire Smith voted most likely to impress in Summer League

Great things are expected of Smith, with a recent poll of Texas Tech students revealing that 60% of them back Smith to have the most impressive Summer League out of his former team mates. Next in the poll was Keenan Evans with 33%, Zach Smith with 5% and Tommy Hamilton IV with 2%.

Zhaire Smith was only at Texas tech for a year but the students there know all about his talents and so too will the rest of the basketball world very soon. However, not everyone thought the 76ers did their business well, with questions over trading Mikal Bridges who might turn out to be real star. Zhaire Smith is a true athlete who is expected to make a big impact at his new team although his shooting can let him down. If he develops his game further under the coaches at the 76ers they could have a real player in Smith.
