In FIFA 20, Ryan Kent was a real FUT star with his Road to the Finals card. In the years that followed, things went downhill for him – on the real pitch and in the digital world. Now he could be set to return in FC 25.
In December 2019, EA SPORTS gave its FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) fans a choice: Ryan Kent of Glasgow Rangers or James Forrest of Celtic? Both received a Road to the Finals item that could increase in value depending on their clubs’ performance in the UEFA Europa League.
On the pitch, Kent was ahead. While Celtic were knocked out by FC Copenhagen in the last sixteen, the Rangers reached the last sixteen. There they were knocked out by Bayer 04 Leverkusen – 1:3 in the first leg, 0:1 in the second leg. There were almost five months between the two matches due to the COVID pandemic.
Nevertheless, this performance was enough for a strong upgrade: Kent’s overall rating climbed from 82 to 87, his pace reached the maximum. Combined with 89 in shooting and passing and 93 in dribbling, he was a feared meta beast in FUT.
New attempt in the MLS
Almost five years later, not much remains of this glory – neither in Ultimate Team nor in real football. Kent started the season at Fenerbahce, but the contract was terminated early. He fell victim to the foreigner limit in Turkey, was left out of the league squad and only played in the European Cup.
As a result, his digital image also disappeared from EA SPORTS FC 25. Although a few standard cards still exist, they are rare and cost around 5,000 coins.
This could change soon: at the end of March, the 28-year-old signed for the Seattle Sounders in the MLS. This would enable his return to the game. His last card had a speed value of 89 – whether he retains this remains to be seen. However, an item reminiscent of his legendary 2020 version would be conceivable with Evolution upgrades.
