Inter seems to be serious about Ginter

Matthias Ginter and Inter Milan – this rumour has been floating around the football scene for some time. After the departure of the international player from Gladbach, the Italian champions are now apparently getting serious.

Ginter has decided against extending his expiring contract at Borussia, thus providing clarity just before the end of the year, just like his colleague Denis Zakaria. The defender, who is on a free transfer, is therefore likely to be a very hot commodity on the transfer market – and one that Inter Milan want to snatch up.

Apparently, the Nerazzurri have now laid their cards on the table in the poker game for 27-year-old Ginter and, according to the “Gazzetta dello Sport”, have offered the centre-back a four-year contract. According to the Italian sports newspaper, the Freiburg-born defender is expected to earn up to four million euros net per season.

Inter top of the table and with the second best defence

Inter Milan currently lead Serie A by four points over local rivals AC Milan, with only 15 goals conceded in 19 league games, Inter are one of the strongest defensive teams after Napoli (14).

The 1-0 win over FC Torino just before Christmas was Inter’s seventh league victory in a row. Coach Inzaghi runs a back three, with Allesandro Bastoni (22), Danilo d’Ambrosio (33), Stefan de Vrij (29), Milan Skriniar (26) and Federico Dimarco (24) the most used so far – the latter having just extended his contract until 2026.

The team of coach Simone Inzaghi currently features former Bundesliga pros Edin Dzeko, Hakan Calhanoglu, Arturo Vidal and Ivan Perisic.

Inter was already a topic in the summer of 2020

Ginter had already been traded to Inter in the summer of 2020, but at the time the defensive player clearly positioned himself for a stay at Borussia. A year and a half ago, Atletico and Chelsea also put out feelers for Ginter and lured him with sometimes massive sums of millions.
