Collin Veijer will move up to Moto2 after two years in Moto3 – But the Dutchman leaves the IntactGP team and accepts the offer from Aki Ajo
The German IntactGP team is losing Collin Veijer. The Dutchman will move up to the Moto2 class in 2025 and will compete for Aki Ajo’s team. Originally, the plan would have been for Veijer to switch to the middle class after two years in Moto3 with IntactGP.
However, a number of decisions have been made behind the scenes in recent weeks. Pierer Mobility AG is realigning its brand strategy in the motorcycle world championship. The focus will once again be clearly on the KTM brand.
From next year, both MotoGP teams will ride as KTM teams. The GasGas brand will disappear from the premier class. In Moto3, GasGas will remain with the Tech3 team. The extension with Jakob Roulstone has also already been confirmed.
The Husqvarna brand will be withdrawn from the World Championship and the contract with IntactGP will not be extended. This affects both teams in Moto2 and Moto3. As a result, financing will have to be reorganized for next year, especially for Moto3.
However, IntactGP is confident that it will work out and that they will be represented in both classes next year as before. However, there could be financial cuts to the junior program in JuniorGP.
With Senna Agius, IntactGP has brought a rider from this junior program into the World Championship. The contract with the Australian has already been extended. He is also set to ride in the Moto2 class next year.
The logical step would have been to promote Veijer, another young rider from their own ranks, to Moto2. He won one race in his rookie season. In the current season, he has won once and finished on the podium a further four times
Red Bull is a personal sponsor of Veijer, as can be clearly seen on his helmet. That is why KTM was also interested in bringing the 19-year-old into its own junior team at Ajo.

Veijer will take over from Celestino Vietti next year. Deniz Öncü, who recently had to take a longer break due to injury, will be given a second chance and will stay with the Ajo team for another year.
Veijer himself is “over the moon” that he can switch to one of the most successful Moto2 teams: “KTM is represented in all GP classes and this is a great step for my career. It’s such a renowned team and the results so far speak for themselves.”
