The 7-0 thumping victory in the test match against 1. FC Nürnberg brought FC Ingolstadt fresh self-confidence. However, attacker Patrick Schmidt had no reason to be happy.
Schmidt suffered a fracture in his wrist last week during the Schanzer’s resounding victory in Nuremberg. It is still unclear how long the 28-year-old attacker will miss FCI.
So far this season, the former Heidenheim player has played eight games in the second division for his new employers Ingolstadt (one goal, kicker grade average 4.38).
FCI, currently bottom of the Bundesliga Unterhaus, resume play under new coach Andre Schubert after the international break on Saturday at home to Liga-15 side Holstein Kiel, hoping for their second win of the season.
