After a three-year break, the Race of Champions returns this weekend! The RoC not only features stars from Formula 1, DTM, WRC, IndyCar and Le Mans, but also several premieres. Motorsport-Total.com’ provides all the information.

Timetable for the Race of Champions 2022

Saturday, February 5:

10:00: Opening of the gates
11:00 a.m.: Start of the supporting programme

12:00: Start of the Nations Cup

Sunday, 6 February:

The RoC 2022 on TV and Livestream

For this year’s edition of the Race of Champions, pay-TV broadcaster Sky has secured the exclusive rights. On Saturday and Sunday, the event will be shown on the motorsport channel “Sky Sport F1”. There will also be the option of streaming the event live via the Sky Go (for customers) and Sky Ticket offers.

But there is also good news for motorsport fans in the DACH region: at least the Nations Cup on Saturday will be shown by Sky in a free live stream. The broadcasts will start at 12:00 on both days and end at 15:00 each day.

The venue of the RoC

For the first time, the RoC will take place in Scandinavia this year. It is going to Pite Havsbad in Sweden. The place is only about 60 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle. The races will take place on a snow and ice track in the frozen Baltic Sea.

The Race of Champions 2022 fleet

Four cars, three of them newcomers, await the stars from Formula 1, IndyCar, NASCAR, endurance racing and rallying this year. The most spectacular debutant is the FC1-X, which will even be presented for the first time at the RoC. This is an electric rally car with a power output of no less than 1,000 hp.

Also new to the fleet are the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport with 425 hp and 425 Nm of torque and the RX2e, another electric rally car. The RX Supercar Lites, which runs on 100 per cent fossil-free biofuel, is an old acquaintance and made its first appearance at the 2017 Race of Champions in Miami.

The weather forecast for Pite Havsbad suggests light snowfall throughout the weekend. Temperatures will be below freezing on both Saturday and Sunday. According to the current forecast, the maximum temperature on both days will be minus three degrees Celsius.
