All important information about the 2022 NASCAR weekend in Las Vegas: Schedule, TV coverage, livestream, drivers, teams, history

The third points race for the 2022 NASCAR car (Next Gen or Gen7, respectively) is coming up this weekend, and it will be on a different track than before. After the 2.5-mile oval in Daytona and the two-mile oval in Fontana, this time the race will be held on the 1.5-mile oval in Las Vegas.

The Pennzoil 400 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway will thus be another test for the new car. One or the other problem, especially in connection with the 18-inch rims with central wheel nut, still existed, especially in Daytona.

In Fontana, it was primarily the new independent rear suspension that was partly responsible for problems in conjunction with the new low-profile tyres from Goodyear. Apart from that, the next-gen car still has one or two “teething troubles” in other areas, such as cooling, which need to be eliminated for the coming races.

Following is an overview of all the important information about NASCAR 2022 Las Vegas:

In the USA, the races of the first half of the 2022 NASCAR season will be broadcast live and in full length by the TV channel Fox. The races of the second half of the season will also be shown live and in full by the TV channel NBC. They will be broadcast either directly on the respective main channel or on the respective special-interest channel (Fox Sports 1 on Fox, USA Network on NBC).

As an alternative or in addition to the TV broadcasts on Sport1+ and Motorvision TV or on Fox and NBC, all sessions (practice, qualifying, races) of the 2022 NASCAR season can be watched live on TrackPass, NASCAR’s paid streaming portal.

Registration list NASCAR 2022 Las Vegas (37 cars)

The entry list for Las Vegas features one more entry compared to Fontana. 37 cars are announced for the second of three races in this year’s West Coast Swing. This means that in addition to the 36 cars that have a charter contract, there is one of the so-called open cars in the field.

Returning after a week off is the NY Racing Team Chevrolet Camaro driven by Greg Biffle. Biffle had made his Cup comeback at the season opener in Daytona after a five-year break. He and the NY squad (formerly Xtreme Racing) did not compete at Fontana. Las Vegas now marks the second appearance. Further appearances in the course of the season are likely.

Because 40 cars are allowed per Cup race, but only 37 are entered for Las Vegas, Biffle is already assured of participation on Sunday. There are no driver changes in the cockpits of the 36 cars entered for the entire season for Las Vegas compared to Fontana.
