UEFA wants to deal with the incidents surrounding the Champions League final in Paris with an independent investigation. The association made the announcement on Tuesday.
“The comprehensive review will examine the decision-making, responsibility and conduct of all bodies involved in the final,” the UEFA statement said.
The investigation will be conducted independently and led by politician Dr Tiago Brandao Rodrigues. The former education minister of Portugal is said to be acting pro bono to ensure his independence.
Around the Champions League final on Saturday, there had been chaos at the entrances to the Liverpool Curve at the Stade de France in Paris. As a result, security forces had used tear gas against fans, among other things. The police registered 238 injuries and 105 arrests around the final.
