In the last second: Bayern misses first match point against Bonn

Bayern Munich still need a win in the semi-final series against Bonn to reach the final like last year. In the last second, the FCB missed the chance to do so, there is a fourth game.

The Telekom Baskets Bonn have averted an early season exit in the Basketball Bundesliga. On Saturday, the Bonners won the third play-off semi-final game in Munich with 86:84 (45:40) and reduced the score in the best-of-five series to 1:2. Next Monday, however, the Bavarians have the chance to enter the final with a win in another home game.

The Bonners got off to the better start, found various options offensively and led 24:20 at the quarter break thanks to their better three-point quota. After the sixth successful distance throw, the guests were ahead by double figures for the first time midway through the second period thanks to Jeremy Morgan. With Gavin Schilling on the court, the Bavarians stopped a 10-0 Bonn run and cut the lead to 40:45 at the break.

In the third period, Munich came back step by step and briefly equalised one minute before the quarter break. After a 6:0 run, the guests followed it up with a 9:0 run in the fourth, but the hosts managed to equalise again with 66 seconds left. After Javontae Hawkins, who was the top scorer with 19 points, had given Bonn an 85-84 lead with a converted free throw, Karsten Tadda blocked Munich’s Nick Weiler-Babb’s basket on the opposite side.
