As part of a partnership, Bromley FC is giving a Football Manager player a temporary coaching job
2021/2022 Bromley FC made history. In the final of the FA Trophy – a knockout tournament for clubs in English leagues five to eight – the team from London faced AFC Wrexham. A great deal of attention was guaranteed, as the Welsh team is backed by actor Ryan Reynolds, among others. Together with colleague Rob McElhenney, he bought the club in November 2020.
Just under six months later, Wrexham played for the title against Bromley at the venerable Wembley Stadium. The “Ravens” ultimately prevailed by the narrow margin of 1:0. The last major success to date for the team led by head coach Andy Woodmann. He will have a new addition to his coaching staff in the future. However, he will not be selected on the basis of his CV. The criterion par excellence will be Football Manager 2024
A look behind the scenes
It has been announced that as part of the partnership between Sports Interactive, the developer studio of FM24, and Bromley FC, a “Support Performance Tactician” will join the club. In this role, the tactician will “shadow and learn from the entire coaching staff”, but will also be actively involved. The job description states the following tasks: “Assessing, evaluating and reviewing the performance of the 1st team, units and individual player performances as well as preparing a performance analysis.” The position is limited in time from January to May 2024.
What needs to be done for basic qualification? Unlock the “Champions” achievement in the game – in other words, become a champion. The only catch: only players with the Xbox Game Pass are eligible to participate, which is due to the partnership
Whoever has now become champion in the game can then fill out a form. The finalists selected by Bromley FC will then receive an interview at the club, after which the new tactics coach will be chosen.
Speaking to Mail Online, coach Woodmann confirmed the request was no joke. Among other things, he said: “Whether they like it or not, they will experience the highs and lows from Saturday to Tuesday and during the week and therefore all the emotions of a soccer club first hand.” He also warned the newcomer of what awaits the finalists as soon as he or she is accepted into the inner circle. “Bad language, for one thing. I have to improve my language a bit, I have to stop swearing,” Woodman explained with a laugh.
