With immediate effect, Alemannia Aachen has removed Martin Bader from his post as managing director. The former Bundesliga manager had only taken up his duties at the regional league club on 1 March.
The traditional club did not give a concrete explanation for the separation. “The cooperation will be terminated with immediate effect for good cause,” the supervisory board of TSV Alemannia Aachen GmbH announced on Wednesday. The 53-year-old had only taken over from Thomas Hengen at Alemannia at the beginning of March, who moved to Bader’s former club Kaiserslautern. Bader had signed a long-term contract and wanted to lead the financially stricken club back into professional football. But as 18th in the table, the former Bundesliga club is currently fighting against relegation to the top division.
Disagreements over the dismissal of the coach
Disagreements between the sporting director and the controlling committee had been heard for some time. With ex-professional Patrick Helmes as coach, Bader wanted to build something long-term this summer. But the plan went wrong. The former international was sacked by the supervisory board after only 13 games, although Bader would have liked to hold on to Helmes. The turnaround has not been achieved since then, even under Aachen’s record coach Fuat Kilic.
“A sustainable solution for the upcoming challenges will be found in the near future,” the club announced after the departure of Bader, who had already held management positions at Hertha BSC, 1. FC Nürnberg, Hannover 96 and FCK in the last 20 years.
