“I’m not sad”: Bayer with momentum and enthusiasm towards the top

With an appealing game in Bielefeld, Bayer Leverkusen have caught up with FC Bayern in the table. Coach Gerardo Seoane’s team showed great enthusiasm in the 4-0 win at the Alm – but the Bayer coach welcomes the fact that it is now the international break.

There was basically only one discipline in which Arminia Bielefeld had something ahead of Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday evening. Goal kicks, possession, tackles, passing rate, corners: After the 90 minutes on the Alm, the Werkself was on top in all categories, only in the running distance the hosts were ahead. Arminia had covered almost 119 kilometres and thus exceeded the Leverkusen figure by almost five kilometres.

But there was no doubt whatsoever that it was a completely deserved victory for Bayer on Sunday evening. Leverkusen had shown themselves to be full of verve and playful, and after just one hour the game was already decided at 3:0.

“A change of air will do the players good. “

GERARDO SEOANE

Jeremie Frimpong had emerged as an asset on the right wing, while the ever-active Florian Wirtz and double-goal scorer Patrik Schick shone in the attack. Later, coach Gerardo Seoane said: “Compliments to my team, who were very present in the game from the start and very determined.”

Bayer manage fifth win in a row

With the 4-0 win, his team achieved the next high away victory after the Europa League success in Glasgow and, in general, already the fifth treble in a row. Seoane is not worried that the upcoming international break could break his team’s rhythm. “I’m not sad that an international break is now on the agenda,” the Swiss said on Sunday evening and suspected: “A change of air or even a breather will do the players good.”

After that, a big game is on the agenda: In a fortnight, Bayer Leverkusen will host FC Bayern for the Bundesliga summit meeting.
