“I want to win the ePremier League”: ‘Tekkz’ signs for ManCity

Manchester City have secured an absolute top star. Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt joins the Skyblues’ eSports department and has big plans there

Monday evening was the day: After insiders had already fuelled the rumour mill, Manchester City made the signing of Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt official. The 22-year-old is expected to join Argentine Matias ‘matiasbonanno’ Bonanno in bringing virtual titles to the Etihad. “Hunt and ManCity are out to make history by becoming the first professional and organisation to win the ePremier League twice,” the Skyblues put these claims offensively.

Title with ManCity “a huge honour “

‘Tekkz’ himself is no less ambitious in the performance. “I definitely want to win another ePremier League title,” clarifies the 22-year-old, who sees potential in the interplay with colleague Bonanno: “I think our playing styles complement each other well. That’s why I’m confident that we can play for a handful of titles.” Should there be a trophy with the Citizens, it would be “a huge honour” for Hunt.

That the highly prominent line-up has legitimate hopes of winning titles is underlined by the duo’s performances so far. ‘Tekkz’ took the FIFA eSports scene by storm in 2018 and was considered a prodigy. A reputation he lived up to early on with success. In his debut season, he won a FUT Champions Cup outright, lifted the 2019 FIFAe Club World Cup and also snatched the ePremier League before following it up with an eChampions League win in 2020.

Bonanno, meanwhile, celebrated his greatest triumph last season. The 20-year-old won the eLaLiga. He had previously caused a stir in his native Argentina and is now competing in the third division in his young career. Internationally, he also excelled in the virtual premier league, where he narrowly missed out on the big one. He was beaten by compatriot Nicolas ‘Nicolas 99FC’ Villalba in the 2022 final.
