After missing four games, Julian Nagelsmann could return to the FC Bayern bench against Benfica Lisbon on Tuesday.
“I hope that the test will be negative tomorrow and I also expect it to be,” Nagelsmann said at Monday’s press conference ahead of the Champions League match against the Portuguese (Tuesday, 9pm, LIVE! on kicker). His last PCR test five days ago was “already borderline”, the last quick tests all negative. A new test is scheduled for Tuesday morning, and if the result is negative, Nagelsmann will be able to return to the sidelines.
He no longer has any symptoms, the Bayern coach explained. “You notice that there was something in the body,” Nagelsmann said, “but no more things that inhibit me.” The final training session on Monday was still led by co-trainer Dino Toppmöller.
Shortly before the first leg in Lisbon, Nagelsmann had tested positive for the corona virus for the first time. As a result, the head coach missed a total of four competitive games for FC Bayern, including the historic 0:5 in Mönchengladbach.
