The US Open is already over for Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek top player embarrasses himself in the second round – in a marathon match.
Two-time Grand Slam finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas has surprisingly already failed in the second round at the US Open. The 25-year-old Greek lost to Swiss qualifier Dominic Stricker in 4:04 hours on Wednesday 5:7, 7:6 (7:2), 7:6 (7:5), 6:7 (6:8), 3:6. Even a 5:3 lead in the fourth set could not be used by world number seven Tsitsipas.
“I felt good from the first set,” Stricker said. “More than four hours, it was a tough match, I’m just super happy now. I’m relatively speechless.” It is the 20-year-old’s first appearance in a third round at a Grand Slam tournament. The world No. 128 is coached by former German pro Dieter Kindlmann.
