Hudson-Odoi wakes up his former club: Chelsea stay on course for Europe

Chelsea FC keep their European dream alive with their third win in a row. It looked like defeat in Nottingham shortly before the end. Callum Hudson-Odoi’s opening goal shook up the sluggish Blues, who turned the game around within two minutes

The starting position was clear: Newcastle United’s draw in the afternoon gave Chelsea FC the chance to draw level with the Magpies with a win at Nottingham. The Blues had gained confidence for the end of the season with their 5-0 win over West Ham and came to the Reds unchanged, but they had the first chance. However, Wood failed to beat Petrovic in the Chelsea goal (2nd).

Palmer sets up Mudryk – Boly has the answer

The first cheer was reserved for the visitors: Palmer played a brilliant pass into the box, Mudryk thanked him and scored from an acute angle to take the lead (8th) – but it didn’t last long

After a tactical foul by Badiashile, Gibbs-White’s free-kick set up Boly, who got the better of Jackson and headed in for a quick equalizer (16′). However, as lively as the first half had started, it ended with a 1:1 draw at the break.

Forest misses the crossbar three times

After the restart, however, there was fire in the game, especially thanks to the hosts, who wanted to finally seal their place in the league with a point. However, as we all know in the basement, they initially lacked the necessary luck.

Yates (53), Gibbs-White (57) and Hudson-Odoi (71) all had good chances, but the post stood in the way of all three

Hudson-Odoi wakes up the Blues

It seemed only a matter of time, however, before the sleepy Blues’ passive play – only Thiago Silva gave the visitors any offense (63rd) – would blow up in their faces.

And so it was ex-Blue Hudson-Odoi who broke the spell with another strong attack (74′), which apparently woke up the Blues. Chelsea FC were suddenly there – and turned the game back within two minutes. First Sterling curled the ball into the net (80′), then Jackson headed in freely (82′).

Chelsea remain in touch with Newcastle United in the race for top spot, but the defeat is probably not too tragic for Forest either. With a goal difference twelve goals better than the first relegation place and Luton Town, a lot would have to go wrong on the final matchday. Especially as Nottingham play host to already relegated Burnley FC (Sunday, 5pm). Chelsea play Bournemouth at the same time
