HSV celebrate the youngsters – Walter singles out one player

Saturday went exactly to the liking of HSV, who won 4:1 against Regensburg coach Tim Walter even singled out one player.

“We’ve played a lot of good games in the past weeks and months, but today we finally rewarded ourselves, scored the goals and deserved to win. The fact that we managed to do that in such an impressive way today with so many very young players makes me proud and I’m especially happy for our boys,” Sonny Kittel was happily quoted as saying on the Hamburg website.

The midfielder himself had shown an outstanding performance: Kittel scored a goal, prepared two goals – and took the penalty, which he converted himself. Coach Walter’s words come as no surprise: “It was an absolutely united team performance in which every single player gave his best. If anything, you can single out Sonny Kittel a little bit, because he shone today in terms of play, used his teammates brilliantly and showed once again how much he has matured and how important he is for the team in this role. “

But there was far more working for HSV this Saturday than just Kittel. “We showed from the start today that we really wanted to win this game and had a great willingness again,” Walter was pleased. “We were very consistent and also had no problem with the equaliser, because the team was totally into it and also put this setback away very quickly. In the second half, we remained determined and this time we were rewarded with the goals, which meant we deserved to win against an opponent who wanted to play. “

Two youngsters with premieres

The 4:1 against second-placed Jahn Regensburg is definitely a statement towards the competition. HSV is now back on top and is also celebrating its youngsters. With Faride Alidou and Anssi Suhonen, two 20-year-olds scored their first goals in the 2nd division. “The atmosphere in the stadium was really great, there’s no other way to put it. And we played really well today, it was a lot of fun. It’s great fun at the moment because we have so many young people in the team, so it’s fun to work in training every day – especially when things go as well as they did today at the weekend,” said Suhonen.

With the win, HSV are now only three points behind first and second place and two points behind third. In any case, there has only been one defeat for the Rothosen in the league this season, on matchday 3 in the city derby at FC St. Pauli. Since then, Walter’s charges have not lost again.
