How Nagelsmann controls the load

FC Bayern is on a run and is still unbeaten in competitive matches under coach Julian Nagelsmann.  On Sunday, the Munich team will now host Eintracht Frankfurt. In addition to success, the German record champion’s main focus is on one thing: stress control.

Manuel Neuer, the captain, said it after the Champions League match against Dynamo Kiev. To maintain this successful course, FC Bayern needs healthy players. That is the most important thing. As long as the core formation remains fit, the Munich team is competitive everywhere. That is why head coach Nagelsmann takes good care that Bayern’s elite professionals get their breathers. So he has already made the most of the opportunities.

Sabitzer (still) on hold

“When we are high up front relatively early in the game,” said Nagelsmann, he can rotate through. “We are quite good at controlling the load.” Whether in central defence, on the wing or even in the midfield centre. The options are there. Among others, with Marcel Sabitzer, who so far has only come off the bench, but who, as the Bayern coach knows, “didn’t come with the self-image of playing every game from the start”. Such additions do the Munich team good.

“It is important that we win our games,” says Nagelsmann: “Then we can swap more players. We have to look that we still remain stable.” The motto is therefore to stay in the flow in order to be able to save. So far, the 34-year-old thinks that’s going quite well: “I’m currently quite happy with the load management.
