Home is calling: Rabiot signs for Marseille

Adrien Rabiot has obviously taken his time to scan the market – and has now decided in favor of his home country. From now on, the ball distributor will play for Olympique Marseille. Will there be an attack on the title?

Between 2019 and 2024, Adrien Rabiot laced up his boots for Juventus – and earned himself the status of a regular player and favorite during this time. Under former coach Maurizio Sarri, the technician won the championship, and subsequently won the Italian Cup once each under Andrea Pirlo and Massimiliano Allegri.

Much more striking, however, is that Rabiot was often one of the few bright spots at the Old Lady, who had become rather staid in recent years. After an impressive 157 Serie A appearances (18 goals), Juve bosses were unable to agree a new contract with the 29-year-old French international, who also made five appearances for the Equipe Tricolore in the semi-finals of this summer’s European Championship.

They parted ways, partly because Rabiot himself is said to have rejected a new two-year contract with a salary of 7.5 million euros

OM started with ten points from four games

Since then, the Paris-educated former PSG player (professional between 2012 and 2019) has apparently been following events calmly with his mother and advisor Veronique before deciding to return to France. And for Olympique Marseille. Following a successful medical check, Rabiot signed an undisclosed contract with Roberto De Zerbi’s team (in the summer from Brighton & Hove Albion) on the Durance and can add to his 163 Ligue A games to date.

Om certainly have one hope: OM started with ten points from four Ligue 1 games, most recently winning 2-0 against Nice to finish just two points behind Paris Saint-Germain. Rabiot and Marseille may well count on launching an attack towards the championship – also because the club is not represented internationally this season as last year’s eighth-placed team. It would be the first since 2010.
