On Sunday, the members of VfL Osnabrück gathered for the annual general meeting – among other things to elect their new president.
With a large majority, the 199 voting members in the Osnabrück hall voted for the CDU politician Holger Elixmann After four years as President, Manfred Hülsmann did not run again, Elixmann was the only candidate. However, Hülsmann will not completely leave the club, in the future he would like to be involved in the VfL advisory board.
Until October, Elixmann worked for the CDU as mayor of the municipality of Hasbergen in the district of Osnabrück. Before that, however, the 51-year-old had already been associated with the club for some time, for example, he acted as chair of meetings at general assemblies. He also works as a reporter for VfL Live Radio.
First goals: 2nd Bundesliga even before VfL’s 130th birthday
The new president has also already voiced his first goals. For example, he wants to see VfL “back in the 2nd Bundesliga as soon as possible, preferably as early as the 125th birthday in 2024 and not just the 130th birthday,” he said during his introduction.
