In Hoffenheim, Mijat Gacinovic was not more than a reserve player. Now the Serbian is moving to Greece on loan and wants to gain match practice there. And Joshua Brenet is also leaving the Kraichgau.
As Hoffenheim confirmed, the Serbian will be loaned to Panathinaikos Athens until the end of the season – according to the Greeks, there is no option to buy. At the fourth-placed team in the Greek Super League, Gacinovic is hoping for more match practice, which he has not had recently with the Kraichgau club.
The midfielder moved to Hoffenheim in the summer of 2020 in a swap with Steven Zuber from Frankfurt and has since played 27 Bundesliga games for 1899, although only four of them in the current season. The quick technician had his best time at Frankfurt Eintracht with the 2017 cup win as the highlight and his 3:1 winning goal in the final against FC Bayern. The 26-year-old has made 23 international appearances (two goals) for the Serbian national team to date.
Brenet back home – Adamyan also leaves
In addition, attacker Sargis Adamyan is moving to Belgian champions FC Brugge on loan until the summer. The 28-year-old will meet former Hoffenheim coach Alfred Schreuder there.
In addition, the Hoffenheim side parted ways with Joshua Brenet, who had been on the sidelines for some time. The 27-year-old right-back is moving to FC Twente Enschede. The Dutchman came from PSV Eindhoven in 2018, but only played 15 games in the Bundesliga.
