The biggest MMA event in German history will take place at the Eintracht soccer stadium this fall. Oktagon MMA promises “a spectacular fight card like never before”
The MMA boom in Germany is reaching a new level: this year, the Eintracht Frankfurt soccer stadium will become the venue for a martial arts spectacle that is set to go down in the history books.
The Czech-based Oktagon MMA league has announced that it has booked Deutsche Bank Park in the Main metropolis for the Oktagon 62 event on October 12, 2024. Up to 55,000 fans will be able to cheer on the event, which will be the first MMA event of this size in Germany – and could set standards far beyond.
If Oktagon fills the Frankfurt stadium, it would be the second largest MMA event in the history of Europe (alongside an event organized by the Polish league KSW in the Warsaw European Championship Stadium in 2017) and the ninth largest in the world. The UFC has also only attracted more than 55,000 spectators three times, at three stadium events outside the USA in Canada and Australia (including the main match between Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm in Melbourne in 2015).
Oktagon MMA promises Frankfurt Card “like it’s never been seen before “
The Oktagon organizers are now also venturing into this category, obviously encouraged by the successes of recent years, in which large halls in major German cities were regularly filled, most recently at the weekend in Stuttgart. In Frankfurt, the MMA promotion is also following in the footsteps of the NFL, which hosted the second German game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins in Frankfurt last fall.
Under the label “Bigger than ever”, Oktagon promises “a spectacular fight card like never before” on its official homepage. The supporting program is also set to be huge: “In addition to the fights, the show surrounding the event will also set new standards and every spectator will remember this incredible evening of sport for a very long time. “
No fight has been announced yet, but it would be logical for Frankfurt local hero Christian Eckerlin to make an appearance – and possibly the long-awaited duel with Christian Jungwirth, the other popular figurehead of the German scene.
The registration for the pre-sale of tickets is already possible via the homepage of the organizer.
