Historic figures: Pink away jersey breaks sales records

When the European Championship jerseys were presented in March, there was a lot of criticism for the away jersey. Now the pink jersey has become a top seller

The shirt “is the best-selling away jersey in the history of all DFB jerseys,” said spokesman Oliver Brüggen from DFB supplier Adidas to the SID. “The shirt with the number 8 worn by Toni Kroos was ordered particularly frequently”.

The sporting goods manufacturer from Herzogenaurach, where the DFB team is staying on the Adidas premises during the European Championships, did not comment on specific production figures. “We are delighted about the growing enthusiasm for the EURO 2024 and the continued high demand for the DFB jerseys,” said Brüggen only. The run on the jersey had already become apparent a few days after the start of sales. At the time, the DFB countered the expected criticism from traditionalists with a clever advertising campaign

No bottlenecks so far

Despite high demand, there have not yet been any shortages. “The home and away jerseys are currently available via our own sales channels and from retail partners. We are in contact with retailers regarding further jersey quantities,” said Brüggen.

However, the fun is not cheap for fans. Adults pay 100 euros per copy, children 75 euros – without flocking. If you add the number 8 and Toni Kross’ name to the textile, you’ll have to pay 117 and 92 euros respectively.

On Wednesday in Stuttgart in the second group match against Hungary, pink and purple will be used for the first time in the tournament. The jersey celebrated its premiere in March in Frankfurt against the Netherlands (2:1).
