Hertha BSC bring Broich into the NLZ coaching staff

Thomas Broich will join Hertha BSC’s youth team in the future. The Bundesliga club made the announcement on Wednesday.

Broich will act as head of methodology and “support the coaches of the academy in the future “, the capital club said. “Thomas Broich was already known during his active time for being very interested in tactics and training methodology. The development of principles as well as thematic blocks in the overall process of our game concept together with Matthias Borst (Head of Game Concept) and the methodical teaching of this content are the central themes of his work in the football academy at Hertha BSC,” said sporting director Fredi Bobic, explaining Broich’s signing.

Broich, who played in 193 first and second division matches during his playing days, most recently worked in the youth sector of Eintracht Frankfurt as an under-15 coach, but gave up this position in June 2021 to take some time off. At the same time, he could be seen on ARD as a TV pundit and will continue to do so in the future, according to Hertha BSC.

“During my active time, I was able to gather a lot of experience on how coaches pass on their idea of football to players. The topic of how to conceptually develop content of a playing philosophy and methodically convey it has always interested me a lot,” says Broich himself. “Now I’m really looking forward to being able to bring my input in this area to the Hertha BSC Football Academy and work on these topics with everyone involved. “
