Center Philipp Hartwich only moved to Würzburg last summer. Now he is leaving the Bundesliga basketball club again.
The Würzburg Baskets and centre Philipp Hartwich are going their separate ways. As the Basketball-Bundesligist announced on Wednesday, the contract with the 27-year-old, which still runs until the end of this season, was terminated by mutual agreement.
Hartwich will return to his former club BG Göttingen within the first division. The centre had only come to Würzburg last summer. However, he dropped out for the rest of the season after the first four competitive games due to a knee injury suffered in training.
“First of all, we are very happy for Philipp that he has successfully completed the long rehab after his knee injury a few days ago and is fit again,” explained manager Kresimir Loncar. “We would have liked to have had him continue in our team, but due to his lengthy injury, we had to reorganise at the centre position with Owen Klassen and Max Ugrai in time for pre-season. “
