The next Men’s Handball World Cup will be held in Poland and Sweden in January 2023. This was announced by the International Handball Federation (IHF) on Tuesday.
The finals of the 28th edition of the World Cup will be played in the Tele2 football arena in Stockholm, as was the case for the 2020 European Championship, while the opening match of the mammoth event with 32 teams will take place in Poland on 11 January 2023.
In addition to Stockholm, the venues in Sweden are Gothenburg, Malmö, Kristianstad and Jönköping; the Polish venues will be announced in autumn. While Poland will be hosting a Men’s World Cup for the first time after the 2016 European Championship, Sweden will be hosting the World Cup for the fifth time.
