Greece at European Championships with four Antetokounmpo brothers

Former European basketball champions Greece can count on superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo at the European Championship (1-18 September) with finals in Berlin.

The 27-year-old forward from the Milwaukee Bucks is part of the 23-man provisional squad that was called up and announced on Tuesday. In addition to Giannis, his three brothers Alex, Kostas and Thanasis Antetokounmpo are also part of the provisional squad of the 2005 European champions.

The team around the top star will face Italy, Croatia, Ukraine, Estonia and Great Britain in Group C in Milan and is considered the group favourite. A duel with Germany could happen in the quarter-finals at the earliest.

The final round (from 10 September) will take place entirely in Berlin. The Slovenian Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks) and the Serbian Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets) are also expected to take part in the European Championship. Antetokounmpo, Doncic and Jokic are all considered top-five players in the North American professional league NBA.
