According to Schalke 04, Simon Terodde will be out “until further notice”. After the 5:2 against Sandhausen, coach Dimitrios Grammozis spoke in more detail about the muscle injury of the top scorer.
A few minutes before kick-off, Simon Terodde received a collage from sporting director Peter Knäbel on the Arena pitch on Saturday – a tribute to mark Terodde’s second league goalscoring record, which he had set with his 154th second league goal a week earlier in a 1-1 draw in Bremen. The striker received the gift in civilian clothes, he had to watch the subsequent match against SV Sandhausen (5:2) from the stands.
Einsätze bis Weihnachten fraglich
Will Schalke’s top scorer (12 goals in the season) now miss the remaining three games until Christmas against FC St. Pauli, 1. FC Nürnberg and Hamburger SV? The prognosis made by FC Schalke on Saturday does not sound like short-termism: “until further notice”.
After the match against SVS, coach Dimitrios Grammozis spoke in more detail about the attacker’s injury. According to Grammozis, Terodde suffered a bruise in Bremen and made one last attempt during the final training session before the match against Sandhausen, only to realise after a few minutes that the effort was in vain.
Grammozis hopes for “more certainty in the next few days “
Referring to the bruise as the basis of all evil, Grammozis explained: “The fluid, this haematoma, moved down a bit and then formed together with the injury at this point. You couldn’t really see anything yet because the whole area is swollen. The swelling has to go down a bit before we can look inside the muscle there.” The coach hopes for “more certainty in the next few days”.
