Gorenzel: “There was never any question of Mölders being suspended”

After the dispute between Sascha Mölders and his club TSV 1860 München, Günther Gorenzel has spoken out. According to the Löwen manager, Mölders “misinterpreted” the situation.

Via Instagram Mölders had told his followers on Monday that he was told on the training ground on Monday “that I should no longer appear for training, or train individually. The third division club confirmed this shortly afterwards via Twitter with the short note: “Sascha Mölders will not be in the squad until further notice.

There has never been a suspension of Sascha Mölders.

Today, Tuesday, Löwen managing director Günther Gorenzel spoke out: “There has never been a suspension of Sascha Mölders and there has never been a suspension of Sascha Mölders. The fact is: there was a conversation yesterday with our coach Michael Köllner, Sascha Mölders and me. There, the coach told him that he would not include him in the squad for the next two games due to his current performance condition.” Afterwards, Gorenzel himself had advised the 36-year-old to “cut back” on his sideline activities in the media and concentrate exclusively on football. “Those are the facts about yesterday, everything else does not correspond to the facts,” he said.

Gorenzel wants to “take out the emotions “

Coach Köllner then suggested an individual training plan to get Mölders “back into shape “ Mölders had taken this to mean that his coach was no longer planning to work with him in the medium term, but this had “never been up for discussion”. Gorenzel is now in talks with Mölders’ advisor in order to “clarify the situation for everyone involved and bring about a solution”. One could imagine that the talks between Köllner and Mölders had been very emotional. Accordingly, it was now Gorenzel’s task to “take the emotions out of it and remain factual and professional”.
